#1 BEST Daydream Soundtrack!

Oh God, this is THE サンゴキ anthem! Although Sans only fights me because he feels the fate of the universe at stake, the battle itself is rather playful. He's cracking jokes; I'm never mad when I lose. I know I approach it like a game, so it's only natural that I invite him to stoop to my level of violence.

And speaking of LOVE, there's evidence that having a lot of it will physically deform you: give you a flat affect and a blank stare, make you shamble around like a zombie. So the first chorus perfectly describes my sick satisfaction with this transformation.

My mind has changed / My body's frame, but God I like it / My hearts aflame / My body's strained, but God I like it

I imagine that Sans also gets a rush from fighting me— not the same perverse glee, but a rush nonetheless. For him, it's righteous fury combined with the deadliest pranks in his arsenal. He is fucking with me and enjoying it, so these insulting lyrics are from his POV:

Gonna teach you tricks that'll blow your mongrel mind / Baby doll, I recognize you're a hideous thing inside

Good thing I like when he's mean to me, especially because he's always right! Still, I recognise that this "love" of mine is twisted and wrong— but not wrong enough to deter me. Here I go justifying the mass murder I've committed just to get him to spar with me:

I know it's strange / Another way to get to know you / You'll never know unless we go / So let me show you

Ugghh and then the BREAKDOWN!!! The way the tempo slows is so dramatic, it makes me think of the heart-to-heart connection that we are both craving here. Though he claims he's given up on me, Sans still wishes he could understand why I'm so fucking evil, or at least why I'm obsessed with him. Meanwhile I just want to be close to him... but why do I act like this is the only way? Can't we figure something else out?

Then verse renews; the battle resurges in full force. I like to think of it as the two of us lashing out in frustration at the other's inability to be persuaded or to understand. The violence is truly mutual. It's almost like an agreement that this is the way it has to be, or at least a resignation to the fact that we can't escape ourselves.

This is a clear escalation in intensity. Long gone are the "laying hands" of the first verse; we are now "laying waste"— completely and totally ruining one another. The stakes are high, the temperature's up, but it's still a game... right?

No. It's not a game at all anymore. We may exchange taunts as pleasantries, to keep up a facade of levity, but it's just that: facade. We both know we can do nothing but succumb to the painfully real hell of my making, doomed to eternal conflict, damned to miserable company. "The bite that binds / the gift that gives." Forever.
